Founded by a group of concerned parents who wanted to ensure a better education for their children, the school opened its doors on the 14 January 1997 in the AGS Church hall in Da Nova. Not long after that it was moved to the ATKV Old Age Home in Hartenbos. We were fortunate to be able to purchase some property in Heiderand and build our present school.
In January 2003, we proudly opened the doors of our new school. Cape St Blaize is proud of its rapid development and we have already managed to establish a strong reputation in quality education.
Cape St Blaize Independent School is situated on extensive grounds that overlook the unspoilt beauty of the Indian Ocean. The school enjoys panoramic views of the sea where whales and dolphins are a common sight during summer.
Mossel Bay, one of the oldest towns in South Africa and only a few minutes drive away, was discovered by Bartholomew Diaz in February 1488. He was the first European to walk on South African soil and he named his discovery 'Aquada da sa Bras', or 'The Watering Place of St Blaize'. A Dutch sailor later renamed the town Mossel Bay, but the area around the lighthouse is still known as St Blaize.
Mossel Bay has many historical places of interest, a bustling harbour and long sun-bleached beaches. It is also home to PetroSA, the largest oil refinery in South Africa. The oil rigs that supply PetroSA are a few kilometers out to sea.
With its modern amenities, splendid Golf Estates, and rapid development, Mossel Bay is a very popular destination for tourists.
